Honda ST1300 Shock Protector (suitable for all models)
Installation guidelines: (as sent to you with the Shock Protector)
Remove rear wheel (Full instructions are included with the Rear Shock Protector).
Thoroughly clean the exposed area (ie swinging arm, underside of rear mudguard / fender, rear shock absorber, lower fuel tank etc).
Familiarise yourself with why the Protector has been designed as it has and where each profile fits (ie the top edge of each side wing is to sit as high as possible).
When you have established where each side wing is to be sited, hold the Protector in that position and draw a horizontal line across the top of the Protector (on the mudguard/fender) and a single continuous vertical line centrally on the mudguard/fender and the Protector. The purpose of these two lines is to assist you in drilling the two required holes for fixing the Protector.
Remove the self adhesive backing tape on the rear of the Protector.
Using the lines you drew earlier locate the Protector in position and, gently but firmly, ensure it sticks in this position.
Check that you have it in the exact position you require, paying particular attention to the top of each side wing.
Now that you are happy with the position of your Protector, drill 2 x 8mm (5/16) holes in the plastic mudguard/fender, through the two pre-punched holes in the Protector.
Take the two push-fit fixings and push the fittings through the Protector and the rear mudguard/fender. Check that both of the fiitings are fully inserted.
Fit the push-fit rear brake line protector blocks between the two exposed metal brake lines (just below the left hand side wing). This block is intentionally firm to fit.
ABS models only
The open P section piece of rubber can either be fixed on the top OR the outer side of the right hand side of the swinging arm.
I suggest the final position of ABS sensor cable protector will be determined by the positioning of the ABS sensor cable itself.
Having decided where you are going to position the cable protector, thoroughly clean the appropriate area on the swinging arm using the sachet of 3M cleaner provided.
Remove the backing paper of the adhesive tape and fix the cable protector in the chosen position. Allow at least overnight for the adhesive to set.
Locate the ABS sensor cable into the open P section of the cable protector.
Check all the above before re-installing the rear wheel and silencers/mufflers.
Safe Riding.
